As some know, I'll be running trips down to Morocco soon, either towing Pogos down in a covered trailer with you lot flying in to Marrakesh before setting off for a week's tour, or offering supported (full camping, cooking and recovery capabilities) GS trips where you can chose to ride down to Marrakesh independently or I'll tow some down there with riders flying in.

It looks like I've got a decent 110 Landy coming up....then It'll need some fettling which I shall have done.....then I want to have a shake-down trip, both to make sure the Landy's up to it, and to explore and track log some of the off road and desert routes we'll be doing on the pogos and GS's later on.

So.....here's an opportunity for you....to reduce costs, I'm inviting 3 (max) other people to join me on this shakedown/recce trip.

We'll keep costs to a minimum, camping wherever possible (looking for campsites and/or wild camps will be part of the mission) and cooking our own food.....I'll supply tents, coking kit etc (as I'll be buying that anyway before the trips kick off properly)

The trip will involve a lot of driving obviously, including some off road...previous 4x4 experience good but not essential.....more important is a good sense of humour and willingness to get stuck in.

The route will basically be a quick blast to Marrakesh, then it;ll calm down and we'll do the High Atlas (via some offroad sections and probably the Tizi'n Test pass) then down into the desert......along to the Valley of the roses, Todra gorge, Erfoud and several of the other amazing places that I need to check out for the bike tours.

I reckon the trip will be 2 -3 weeks long.

Familiarity with GPS/PC systems would be a great help, as I need to log and record all the routes to laptop as we go.

I think that's pretty much guaranteed Spot me old dog :thumb ;)

Keep a week free in Nov/Dec, or if you fancy Timbuctoo and Mali in January on the GS, keep a few weeks free there....... :thumb

Depends on the package.

If you just want shipping down and back, about £650 per GS....less for a pogo......if you want the whole shebang with a tour, support vehicle carrying tents cooking eqpt etc etc, a week about £1100.

Still waiting on some insurance quotes but that won't be far off the mark.

I'd also be up for your recce trip in October ( quite fancy the Mali trip too... ).

No probs with dates so ready when you are :bounce1 . I have two GPS's, a laptop you can use and some experience riding in the areas you're planning to visit. PM sent, cheers, Geoff

Bill, I'm going to Morocco in October anyway with another group, but if I wasn't, I would have really liked to go with you. :o

Have replied to the PM's, thanks guys, but I should have made it a tad clearer, sorry......it's the landy doing the recce, not bikes ;)

4 people now provisionally booked :thumb

there will almost certainly be be a GS run with full support in November....more details and prices to follow when I get back from Achill.

I might be able to make it, will know for sure in two weeks time. Can you put me down as a reserve please? I can cook anything as long as you don't mind the scoville(? spelling) rating being above 500,000, I'll pack my Dave's Ultimate Insanity just in case :spitfire
