My 12GS came with only 1 metal key and one plastic key. I just got off the phone with Customer Service for BMW Canada. Apparently, when BMW in Germany is running low on keys, they ship the bike with one key and expect the dealer to put in a warranty claim for getting the second. As the guy explained it to me, some times they will ship bikes with one key, or a bike with no battery, and let the dealer replace them as a warranty claim.
At any rate, officially, the bike should come with 2 metal keys and 1 coded plastic key. They are going to order it for me and give it to me at the first 1000 km service.
When I called my dealer back and told him this, he claimed he had no knowledge of this and that he was peeved that BMW Canada does not relay this info to him.
So, if you get your bike with one metal key, don't be tempted like I was to order a second.. The dealer should provide it as a warranty claim item.
