Im sick of wrecking the Arai Tourx by using it offroad. Before it gets to a state where I'll be looking for a new one for Christmas, can anyone recommend me a good offroad lid?

In order of priority:
1. Safety - dont want to compromise on this
2. Weight - had a loan of a lightweight cheap helmet, and the lighter helmet was definately an advantage
3. Price - Im hoping they are a bit cheaper than the Tourx!
4. Style/looks - if Im honest, this is probably further up the priorities list!

I'm wanting to do the same with my criteria being identical in every way :thumb2

I'm hoping to get one of these as soon as I have the spare pennies.

Thing is about the tourX and similar* is the visor/goggles thing is dead handy when the weather turns and you have some road miles to do. Goggles can be a pain in bad weather when you have road work to get to and from the ferry and the like. They are versatile.
Someone had a nice red tourx s/h on here for £100, gone now think.

*maybe a cheaper visor fitted variant, I suppose.

worth popping out to Cotters off the Ballymount ind. est.
he had some nice ones last time i was out there - and cheap too. :thumb2
tell him some mad fecker that instructs on an old Bumw GS sent you and swore blind he'd give you discount ;)

I stopped using my Tour-X for similar reasons ...

Tried a few of the "off-road" MotoX helmets (luckily a mate is in the trade and gets given/tests all sorts each year), pretty mixed really, some very cheap and nasty, scratchy linings, etc ... if you're not careful you creep back up into Arai territory again ;-)

So, after some searching I compromised on either a KBC or last years stock of Animal, found a great deal on the Animal and picked up two in silver/red for 50quid each.

Its ECE approved, etc, light, breezy and prepped for goggles, interior is above average and if I drop it (which I was wont to do!) I won't be too upset!

If you just want a cheapish off raoder with a visor have a look at the Airoh Tyger.
