Theres a party of us heading for maroc in april, and i think my hein gericke suit will be too flippin hot when we are there.
It will be fine for trek across spain , anything up to 25 deg c will be ok, but i think maroc will hit prob 35 deg c.
whats your recommendation for a 2 piece suit?

I've been in april a few times and it's never been that hot. And i always have my handle bar muffs fitted.

In fact couple of times it's been bloody cold.
Even had snow in central spain.

BMG Adventure Jacket - http://www.britishmotorcyclegear.com/adventure-jacket.asp

BMW Adventure Pants - http://www.britishmotorcyclegear.com/mens-adventure-pants.asp

Order from BMW in San Diego, California. Paul Brooks of BMG offers great customer service.

I wore mine in temperatures of 40 deg C + and high humidity in Kansas last year and with a Pertex windshirt underneath, temperatures down to just above freezing on Colorado on the same trip.
The trousers have fireproof panels on the inside of the trousers, that will be good after a marrakesh curry.
seriously though, they look a good bit of kit for low money, and the arms unzip.
how do you go on with sizing and import duty as its a gift for myself.?

refering back to the jacket, it says the sleeves zip off, does it leave a mesh liner with elbow armour still in place?
Also you say order from bmw in san diego, do you mean BMG?
cheers mate , paul

I've had them send me a few bits of kit over the years and I've only been hit once for import duty. The "gift" thing is a bit difficult. It's actually a Federal Offence for sellers in the US to export stuff and declare it as a "gift". So, understandably, many of them won't do it.

As to sizing, there's a chart on the site - http://www.britishmotorcyclegear.com/size-chart.asp

If necessary, drop Paul Brooks who runs BMG an e-mail. As I said, he does great customer service - dantegod(at)aol.com

how do you get on with the zip off sleeves, does it leave the armour held in place by mesh?

I've never removed the sleeves for the very reason that the armour is held in pockets in them. The best solution, if you really want to remove the sleeves, would be a "pressure suit" of body armour.

However, since there are long zipped vents on the inner side of the sleeves, as well as vents in the shoulders and on the back of the jacket, I've never felt the need to remove the sleeves.

Akito Desert (sand) - loads of vents - very draughty.
Wear with just shorts & t-shirt underneath.
First into the pool.

If you are staying north of the Atlas, you will need COLD weather stuff, and WET weather stuff.

Sometimes, you will wish you had SCUBA kit actually :D

South of the Atlas by more than 100 miles, go for the Hein Gericke Airtex stuff.

Wore mine for years, its great.....armoured, light, vented, and cheap too :thumb2

Thanks Bill

Can thoroughly recommend an aerostich 'Evapodanna'........imagine a tringular arm sling bandage, with fleecey material one side and a windproof thicker other side, with water holding gel layer in the middle.

You soak it in water and even riding in 45-50 degrees heat, it stays wet for an hour, giving you an effective 10 degrees cooler feeling as the water evaporates.

you can use them dry and reversed as insulation against cold as well :thumb2

They also do things like neckties but rectangular all the way down IYSWIM......same sort of material and idea, just smaller.

If you cant get one, go to Millets and get one of those microfibre towels (under 20 quid for the large one).
They fold away into a tiny pocket, but because of the hi0-tec fibres, hold a LOT more water than you'd imagine........reverse their purpose and instead of being a very effective towel, just soak it in water and wrap it around you neck....Job done :thumb2

Found the quality of these very poor, I'd go for HG Airflow 4 , its like a tea bag , just dont get caught in the rain or pack a waterproof oversuit.:thumb
