Fitting the Stahlkoffers to the GS means I have to lose my MachineArt Moto Mudsling, which is a fantastic bit of kit for keeping crap off you and the rear shock. The Pannier frame brackets fit where the Mudsling mounts on the rear subframe.

I want to keep crap off the rear shock and stop a bit of it flinging back up onto me, so am looking for a hugger.

Has anyone used the Puig one? The Ilmberger ones look ok, but pricey for the ESA version. Any suggestions folks?

That Puig is the one marketed by Nippy Norman.

Seems to work well, but the Mudsling seems to be a better approach to the problem.

I think there may be two models of Mudsling out there - do a google and a search on this site - for opinions, pics and prices.

Cheers mate, I have a mudsling at the moment but it won't fit with the stahlkoffer frames, unless I get the Dremel out and attack it.

I may do that as after a search I found the puig is a bit style over function and at least one casting has let go.

Looking at it an Ilmberger looks like the best option, or hack the mudsling up a bit.

Remember, the day you fit a hugger is your last day off-road!

I have the Puig hugger on my GSA. I'm not sure it achieves a great deal as I still get loads of muck on the heel area of my left boot - and that's without venturing off-road! I think I will be removing it sometime soon and fitting a Mudsling instead. I think your best bet would be to modify what you already have to work around the problem.

I've always thought that the muck that seems to be hoovered up on the left side is a combination of the open wheel and that German TUV guard doo-hickey hanging off the back of the final drive unit.

Try removing that guard?

Get the dreamed out - that's what I did to mine to make the machine art hugger fit.

With some care an own look can be achieved.
