Hi
I have a selection of bike gear (don't we all:D) and am happy with it 'cept it's getting a bit leaky...

Belstaff Discovery jacket which is not too bad but leaks a little when really bad rain...

Teknic jacket for summer which is pretty good...

BMW Steetguard tousers with their clever mix of Goretex and other stuff but are a bit leaky in any heavy rain...

I have used sprays and wash in stuff years and years ago but had a great BMW Goretex oversuit which I used for years for seriously shit weather but zips went etc so they are now dog walking kit...

Can you recommend me your tried and tested stuff that you have used and is available...:D

Got the new Ride magazine yesterday and there is an article about Nikwax in. Seems they make more than just wash liquid for your textile clothing. A good tip is to buy at an outdoor shop as the motorcycle shops charge you a fortune for it. Compare the prices just to be sure. Don't know if Nikwax is part of the Hein-Gericke promotion at the moment.

I've used Nikwax stuff since they started with the boot wax proofer. Always been good stuff, I even use the textile proofer on the softop of the car. Don't expect it to proof your string vest but it will improve things.

Cheers for that... I last used Nikwax over a decade ago re-re-re treating all my leathers when instructing... I will check out their stuff... I used wash in stuff a few times but couldn't remember a thing about who it was except I had to buy soap flakes...

A mate of mine suggested using 'Thompsons water seal' - the stuff used on exterior brick work. :eek
I thought he was taking the piss. He wasn't - he was serious!

Anyone going to give it a go? :nenau

If you go on the Nikwax website and complete the quiz they will send you out a out a free sample of their TX direct wash in waterproofer.

I always wash my jackets with the tech wash and then do them again with the wash in TX proofer and then spray them as well .
Has worked well with HG jackets, Rukkas, and various walking and wok jackets (Keelas)
