Next weekend I’m planning on doing the C2C ride with the big trail bike club. The Sunday after the run a few of us are staying up in the lakes and then taking a leisurely bimble back down to sunny Essex on Monday. Question is, what route should we take? We want to avoid motorways at all costs and take in as many great biking roads as possible. Obviously the snake and\or cat and fiddle are on the cards but what else?

Please recommend me some great biking roads.

Thanks in advance.

After the lakes it'll all be a disapointment - enjoy the morning there and take the motorway home in the afternoon :D

When you get near to the M6, maybe take it up to Preston and then drop onto the A6.

Depending on whereabouts in the Lakes you're heading for, you can travel up over Shap and keep on this road as far as Keswick.

Whichever route you decide on - enjoy!
