The le Chameau's seem to tick those boxes for me. Got fed up with cold, uncomfortable wellies but haven't had an issue with the Le C's since bought. Trudged several miles across fields in the last week with no discomfort, thanks to a snug, comfortable fit around the ankle ans arch support. Best bet is to try a few different brands on and see what fits best. Decent wellies have jumped in price this past number of years. I notice mine are now almost twice what I paid for them 10 years back. For general trudging where it isn't too muddy, a cheap graded pair of ex mod Altberg Defenders are very comfortable. I got mine for £40 in as new condition, also 10 years back and they're still going strong and are waterproof enough (with Ledergris regularly applied) that I can still wade across a local stream which covers the foot completely and stay bone dry. They might just be the ticket if wellies aren't essential? Are any of these wide wellies comfortable for 2-3 mile trudges across fields, followed by a 1 mile walk on tarmac, which is my average dog walk. My Dunlops are fine for the fields but not comfortable on tarmac.
