Recommendation For Base In Brittany For 3 Nights Pls.

I’ll be arriving in Brittany tomorrow for 3 or 4 nights and would greatly appreciate recommendations for a base. Quiet coastal town maybe but anywhere really.

@Arsey knows that area well so should be able to help. We stayed in the small town of Porspoder right on the coast. Hotel Chateau de Sable. Great restaurant, lovely rooms and very modern.

I stayed in Hotel Vent d'Idroise but there is a larger, posher one nearby, owned by the same people

Dinan, Vannes, Concarneau and Paimpol are good choices depends where you are aiming to venture to while you are in Brittany.
If you choose Vannes the D767 south from Guingamp to Vannes via Pontivy is fantastic, actually the best part is north of Pontivy and the last 25K is dual carriageway.
Also the D785 Quimper to Morlaix (or vice versa) is probably the best scenic road in Brittany through Armorique national park.
Personally i'd choose Vannes to stay. lorient, Quiberon and Auray are not too far away. Also Pornic south of Brittany is also worth a visit.
Escale Oceana Vannes Centre is a good hotel with off street parking and easy walk to the port.

Brittany is rather large ! I’d perhaps do two nights in two places .
As suggested, Vannes or Concarneau are good.
I’d also recommend here in Ploumanach.
Nice Logis with fabulous location and great restaurant overlooking the beach .

Agreed. The D767 is my favourite road in Brittany , especially from Guingamp to Corlay.

The D785 from Morlaix to Pleyben , taking you over Monts D’Aree is great, as you say .







I’s also recommend Saint Goustan which is below Auray. Great spot for lunch/dinner .




And if you go to Concarneau, make sure you get off the bike and explore the ‘ville close’

If you’re down near Auray/Saint Goustan then pop down to La Trinite sur Mer for a coffee and head around the coast to L’Escale in Lochmariaquer for lunch .

I stayed there once on the cobbles road up from the harbour and just before the old castle gates. One of the places I'd like to return to.
