After ripping apart a pair of old headphones and jamming the speakers into the helmet, I'm now smitten with having music & the directions etc coming from the Zumo's 3.5mm socket on the cradle. I also intend to wire in a quick-connect as playing 'Double Dutch' with the headphones lead kinda gets old after 4 hours.

The problem with the above is the audio is not really audible once the earplugs in and you're moving along at above 30mph.

I'm not interested in an Autocom/Starcom/Bluetooth as they're complete overkill for just listening to a single source, unless I need the amplification (I assume) the units provide.

#1:
Does anyone else run the Zumo with just some speakers using earplugs and which headset/speakers do you use, and how good/bad are they?

Cheers.

Once you have partially deafened yourself with high-attenuation earplugs you need either amplification or to revert to a set of in-ear monitor earplugs.

Also using in-ear monitors plugged straight into my Zumo 550, upto about 50mph I have 2 bars on the volume, at highway++ speeds, using 3 bars on the volume.

owuld appear the way to go. :thumb
