The tyres on my trusty R1150 Adv Se are preiliously close to the minimum tread marker and will no doubt require a change at the next serivce. I have no intention of taking the bike anywhere other than on good surface tarmac in the near future and as such was considering going for a road only tyre. Can anyone recommend any appropriate tyre and manufacturer? Will I notice any difference in performance and handling as a consequence?

I bought Avon Distanzias last year as my usual Tourance were not available. The are excellent on a 2000 R1150GS: they've been to Croatia & back in blistering heat and just done a weekend in the Peak District in hail & rain.

Very good grip and they are lasting very well. There seems to be loads or rubber left before I get to the wear bars.

As a bonus, last year they were £30 a pair cheaper than Tourance/Anakees.

Always had Tourances on mine. Normally 8-9k from a front and 10-12 from a rear. Enough grip, etc, for me.

Try here for your tyres. They come from Germany, they're cheaper than any I've found over here, postage was £10 and they arrived in under a week. Recommended.
