I’m in the very early stages of planning a trip to Scandinavia in 2026 with friends. Pretty sure the preference will be to do a self-guided tour; ie have a company organise all logistics and routes (ie, but no guide) and we just pitch up and ride.

Compared with the loads of tried-and-tested companies who offer self-guided tours all over mainland Europe, there don’t seem to be a whole lot who do Scandinavia. I’ve only come up with MCI Tours, Horizon, and Magellan so far, in fact.

Does anyone have any experience of any of these, or know of any other outfits who do self-guided tours there? Thanks!

There is only one person to contact is Simon Wier he is excellent and will even plan your fuel and coffee stops and advise on hotels. I’ve used him many times and this is my opinion very reliable
Look at his website or call him

I’ve used Magellan many times, not for self guided but their self guided routes I believe are the same as the guided ones. Their routes, accommodations, touring tips and ‘must see and do’ are tried and tested over a number of years and are modified if circumstances change.
The Norway, Sweden tour was spectacular.

We toured Norway a couple of years back. We just watched the Motorad tour that TMF went on and basically followed their route for most of it. We added the Lofotons to our trip which the Motorad tour didn’t visit. The main road north was washed away and or closed by landslides in many places and numerous organised trips were changing to go a more southerly route. Chatting to tour leaders this seemed to be because many of the big adventure bike owners had chosen to have road tyres fitted!!! This is worth bearing in mind for your trip. The many kilometres of off road we had use were a great part of our trip.
