a torx set, three eighths drive[not snap on class]that will fit all the bits on a tc 12gsa. danke. j

Best recommendation I can give is do not buy cheap!

If you value your bike buy the best quality that you can afford. I use Britool, Snap On, Teng, etc for thing like fasteners.

There is good reason why aircraft maintainers, professional mechanics/technicians spend money on tools.....not to show off but because they do the job without damaging the work and they last.

Buy cheap - buy twice!!!!

Halfords professional all the way for me. Good quality and you will find what you need in your local store.

I work all day using snap on tools as the amount of use justifies the expense. I got one of the halfords professional sets when they were on offer for using on the bike at home and for the amount of use most home mechanics will give it I would say you wouldn't go far wrong in looking at there range.
When dealing with torx fasteners be careful as I've seen many damaged by using the incorrect size, which is easy to do if there is a bit of crap etc in the head which makes it feel tight. It's also a good idea to give the socket a little tap to ensure it is fully in to the fastener.

Some brands, Teng for example, are in my opinion expensive and if you know where to look you can get Gedore or Hazet (German made) for similar money and there is no comparison whatsoever.
Carolus and Vigor are Gedore and Hazet's cheaper lines (Taiwan made like Teng) but still good stuff for the home mechanic.

You'll be hard pressed to get all the sizes for the TC in 3/8 drive alone.

thanks all,i already have a three eighths socket set and just thought it would be a case of using that coupled with the torx set. j

Bahco is pretty good quality (not snap-on mind) and there are some good reductions recently on Amazon / eBay.

3/8 isn't going to give you the 'feel' that you'll get with a 1/4 inch driver....important particularly when there are torx headed bolts into plastic like around screen areas.

As some above, I'd go for the Halfords pro kit, and look TOMORROW online for 'Cyber Monday' deals :)

I have some Halfords spanners. They are VERY well make but almost too thin and less comfortable to use than spanners with thicker shanks.

My low cost Torx bits have served me very well. They should be made to the correct tolerance and really does anyone expect the fasteners to be an even better tolerance? More likely the fasteners are on the loose side. I've never had the correct size Torx bit damage a fastener. That's not to say that I have have not damaged some by using the one size smaller which often seems to fit. Maybe that's the cheap bits but more likely operator error.
