Recording freeview digital tv on a VCR

Right, I know this is a computer forum, but I have a question about recording freeview digital programmes on a VCR.

I can record any of the digital channels, the picture quality is good, but the sound quality is, quite frankly cr*p!!!!!! I had this problem once before and I did "something" and it cured it, but it was some time ago and I can't remember what I did!

Please can someone out there put me out of my digital aural misery???

Tooned is probably yer man for this, but I found that when recording freeview I get the same sound levels as is current on the TV. I set the vol control with the freeview zapper, which helps. Also found that if I have the control set to 'mute', it records the prog 'mute' as well. Beats me

i think shuck has hit the nail on the head .... also check the scarts are pushed fully home
