This is probabley one which GSrich :thumb can answer ....

I've just fitted an Autocom 300 Duo and have it hooked up to a Zumo 550 and ready for bike to bike. Things works brilliantly so well chuffed

One thing I will be looking to do is to have some way of recording the audio from the mic via the autocom and onto a small camcorder (mini dv tape). Now I'm guessing this can be done as the autocom website has the demo video showing how good the product is at speed and the rider is talking.

Does anyone know how I can do this and if it is possible, which parts would I need or how can I do it? It would potentially be mixed with video on the tape as well although it doesn't have to be in sync necessarily as this could be editted later.

cheers

Nick

Hi Rich,

Doh :blast - I was so involved in trying to work out how to do it I didn't think to have a look at the camcorder end.

I'll find out over the weekend and then get back to you when I get all the information together.

cheers Rich

No worries mate, I will check back on this thread over on Monday as from the weekend lined up I will not have time as im going to Mallory Park on Sunday to watch some racing

Rich :beerjug:

Hi Rich,

Hope the racing was good at Mallory Park.

I've checed out my camcorder and its even worse than my previous post. :blast Its a Sony DCR-HC47E which doesn't have any audio input. It only does audio output so thats my plan scuppered for the minute.

Saying that I now either go for an uprated camcorder (good excuse to get an HD unit) or some other way of recording the images and audio (like an archos). Not sure which yet.

Anyways, let me check out which solution I'm going to go for then if its ok I'll maybe ask again how I can connect up to capture audio. I'm guessing it can be done - just a case of which cable to use and where to connect it on the autocom.

Cheers again for your help Rich. I'll get back to you shortly.

Nick

Hi Nick,

No problems at all, Mallory wise some good racing but proper cold and a dodgy chicken salad stopped us from stopping the full day.

Hi Rich,

thats bad news on the old chicken salad effect. At least you got your fitness levels up running backwards and forwards to the cubicle :)

One slightly off subject thing if I can.

I've fitted the headset (minus the mic) to my helmet and all works fantastically. This weekend just gone I thought I'd go the next stage and tape on the mic and plug it in as you gave me a few tips on how to secure the mic to the helmet. Thats all on there now after using gaffer tape which does the job brilliantly.

One thing I found though is that I plugged the small red connector into the correct one on the headset loom and taped it all up. I couldn't get it to work and so took a look and noticed that a wire had come out from the red plug which connects to the mic (on the headset side).

I notice they are just crimped in there so I'm suspecting its just a case of its one thats not been gripped right. I don't fancy trying to solder it or mend it myself so can you tell me if I should send it back to autocom direct to either be fixed or through chainspeed who I brought it from?

At the moment I've put the other headset in which is the pillion one so I can listen to the lovely lady on my zumo tell me that I'm going the wrong way and I should do the dishes when I get home - lol

Cheers Rich

Hi Nick,

My apologies on the headset not being as it should be :blast but no worries if you send it back to me I will get you a new headset loom sent the sameday that it lands on my desks. Just pop a quick covering letter in with the headset explaining the ins and outs of what is going as you wouldnt believe the amount of stuff we getsent back with no details :augie

Rich :beerjug:

Hi Rich,

Your a star. :thumb2 Thanks for doing that. I'll get it all wrapped up tonight, put a letter in and get the wife to post it off to you in the morning.

Just checking but I'll send the package off to the address on your website (Unit4, ...., CV34 6RH). I know it seems obvious but better to check.

Silly Question but do I just mark the envelope : FAO: RICH

cheers matey - I owe you :beerjug:

Nick

No worries mate, your best bet would be to mark it for Rich W as there is another Richard who works here down in the R&D area

Hi Rich,

Ok all sorted and on its way to you courtesy of Postman Pat.

If you don't get anything in say 3 or 4 days then let me know and I'll get down the post office to chat to the lovely lady who served me today.

Cheers again Rich :beerjug:

Cheers Rich for letting me know. No worries about rushing to get the replacement out. As and when matey cos its Friday and nearly beer-o-clock

Nick

Yeah it always good when things turn up on time with no problems, but we will get your new headset sent out when we can mate. As for beer oclock sounds good to me :thumb

Rich :beerjug:

Hi Rich,

Got the headset back to today - thanks for all your help on that mate. I'm highly impressed with Autocom.

Well impressed with the new layout of the wiring on the section which connects to the DIN plug cable. Makes it a shed load easier for me when it comes to routing the whole thing inside your helmet. :thumb2

cheers again for all your help Rich :beerjug:

Nick

Spot on I was meaning to ask you if the headset had arrived ok, but it looks like it has. happy days :thumb2

Glad all is well mate

Autocom record out

Hi,
I have a question regarding recording out from an Autocom SuperPro AVI system .
My set up is :-
Super Pro AVI connected to Garmin 2610 in Aux 4, Archos 704 WiFi for music connected to Aux 2. All works great. I also have a Sony HQ1 helmet cam with a seperate mic all linked up to a Sony DCR-HC30E video cam which records sound with no problems when all connected. But if I disconnect the helmet cam mic and plug in a 3.5mm Mono jack to RCA in Aux 3 and linked to either left or right channel on the Sony AV Cable, to record from the Autocom I get no sound. Is there any way I can record sound from the Autocom with this setup?
Cheers
