Could someone help me with a collection, and posting, in the Redditch area?
Beer vouchers await the good Samaritan.

I have a CO2 powered air pistol - in the piccy - with a broken trigger spring. The UK distributor wants to charge me £3 for the spring, £3.50 P&P but insist their minimum order value is £15!

I wondered if anyone lives in the Redditch area, and would call in, buy the spring, and mail it on to me? The spring is so small it wouldn't even cover your little finger nail.

The supplier is

Brocock Ltd.
Unit 32 Heming Road
Washford Industrial Estate
Redditch B98 0DH
Tel: 01527 527800

and the Part number is 416.20.39.1, for a Walther CP88.

Many thanks,

Neil.

Hi Neil

Leave it with me, and I'll see if I can get there tomorrow afternoon for you.

Are they open Saturdays do you know?

Oh dear!

CO2 gas powered air pistols, with a self contained CO2 cartridge are nowadays strictly illegal. They're classed as a prohibited weapon, needing a certificate.:rob

I know this since my son had one lawfully. The gov. changed the law giving a period of time for owners to apply for certificates. That time has expired and possession is now unlawful. :hide

(waiting for the disagreements)

I'm not sure about all the legalities, but it seems to depend on "what air pistol" one has -

Airguns in the UK are subject to the firearms acts, under the Firearms (Dangerous air weapons) rules 1969 they are classified as low powered Air Weapons and as such they are restricted to a maximum power of 12 foot pounds force for a rifle and 6 foot pounds force for a pistol. Above 12ftlb a rifle is classified as a Section 1 Firearm and requires a licence called a firearms certificate, and a pistol above 6ftlb is again a Section 1 Firearm requiring a firearms certificate in the UK.
The definition of a firearm under the act is "a lethal barrelled weapon of any description from which any shot, bullet or other missile can be discharged" it further defines "lethal weapon" as "a weapon capable of firing a projectile with sufficient force to inflict more than a trivial injury i.e.. with sufficient force to puncture skin".
The Home Office consider the lowest level of muzzle energy capable of inflicting a penetrating wound is one foot pound (1.35 joules) hence guns producing less than 1ft/lb are not covered by the act and therefore not classified as air weapons or subject to any restrictions.
The 1997 Firearms Amendment Act made handguns illegal in the UK but Air Weapons were excluded under Section 5 (1) subsection (aba) "a prohibited weapon includes a firearm with a barrel length less than 30cms and an overall length less than 60cms, other than an air weapon, a muzzle loading gun, or a firearm designed as signalling apparatus".

It's not the 'specially declared dangerous' legislation that counts here, it's the fact that it's powered by a self contained co2 cartridge. Possession of one after 30th April 2004 became illegal under ammended firearms act 1968. Google Firearms Act 1968 and you will find references to this including a nice PDF leaflet explaining, If I was clever I would post the link below

Oh dear, I couldn't have been more wrong,:blast
