Whilst on the trail in the Sierra de Tejeda in southern Spain last week, we came across a posse of riders from the Redtread Off-Road School based in Cómpeta, Andalucia.
The school is run by Ian Burgess - I have to say that he was a really nice guy who invited us to join his on the day's ride. He certainly knows his way around the area and took us to a great restaurant for lunch too!
The Redtread set-up was very impressive. A very large villa serves as the base for riders (bunked in 2-berth apartments); the store and maintenance area for his fleet of 2007/08 Honda CFRs and a general post-ride R&R area - pool and bar included.
As well as tours of the local area and the Sierra Nevada, Ian is looking at starting tours to Morocco. Aside from his Landrover, he has a larger support vehicle:
It certainly dwarfs my DR-Z!
Probably not the cheapest in town, but you'd be pushed to find better if you're thinking of some off-roading somewhere different. Recommended.
