Hi to all,
I was wondering if anyone has had a rear shock repaired or refurbed. I bought a newish secondhand one, it had done very little. I put it on my Dakar last year, did about 3500miles but it started leaked oil out in Poland. :blast
I rode it back home Ok though, admitadly the last 300miles were uncomfortable, but only when I was braking did I feel that the back wheel was hopping about. :eek
My original rear shock is now back on and has done 33,000 miles, though planning a trip to Ireland in May with pillion I would think a refurb on one of these shocks is recommended.
So, is it possible? :nenau

Yes it is possible. However it might not be worth it. I was quoted £90 plus parts from a place that advertised themselves as knowing how to rebuild Showa shocks.

Refurb of Rear Shock

Hi komatias,

I`m going to try and get it fixed and at about £90 plus parts is ... at the moment ... all I can afford. If it lasts a year and hopefully with a bit of warrenty of work done, thats the way for now.

Cheers Dakarnoway
