Remind me why 1090 is not squeezed in between 990 and 1190 in the thread title please.

Ssssshhhhhhhhhh!!! 😊

It is because the 1090 is probably the best bike KTM have ever made.

125Bhp, and not bloated with unnecessary electronics and pointless modes.

Mine’s just been to The Picos via Schwartzwald (as you do)

Love it. Needs a centre stand though.. 😎

If it ain’t a 790, it don’t matter

I wouldnt say no to the 1190 engine, BUT in my 1090 road-biased cast-wheeled chassis. 😉

Cos everyone who owns a KTM already knows that the 1050/1090 is jus a sleeved down lower spec 1190 ;)
Bought a 1090 as a commuter / touring bike for Mrs when I had my 1190, the finish was clearly not as good on bodywork, but apart from that it was good in the quality department, and it handled much sweeter - maybe due to less power to handle, but it also had much better damped forks.

Where it lacked a little was mid-range, I could live with the top end power deficit, but where the 1190 pulled like mad from 3k and was bursting with thrust at 5k, the 1090 almost matched the 1190 to 4k or so - about inline with the 10% smaller engine, but then it had a flat spot at around 5k which I found a little annoying.

When I ordered my 1290 I let the Mrs ride the 1190 as either the 1090 or 1190 had to go, took her about 200 metres (first opening of the throttle) on the 1190 to decide the 1090 had to go....

...But I swear the 1090 is the best handler, and had a better front end setup than the "advanced" 1290 and all its electircal doo-dah.

My "perfect" 1X90 would the the 1190 with the 1090 forks and the 1290 cruise control.

some substantial 1090 prescence in the thread below ;) he said, Impartially :D
