This is for all you techno wiz’s out there.

My grandson has a mini moto-crosser but keeps disappearing off into the distance (future GSer). I am looking for a single switch remote control so I can cut the ignition on the bike when he starts to wander. The bike has no battery so it would need to be battery operated.

Thought about maybe a central locking key fob type thing, but as I know squat about electronics I am hoping you guys will either know how to do it or know where I can get one.

Thanks in advance.

What about buying a cheap radio controlled toy - Maplins do them for less than £20, and ripping it apart to use the radio gear to operate a switch in parallel with the kill button, just earth the ignition.

With a bit of ingenuity you could probably sort it so you could steer it back to you as well :D

RC kit for a remote control car (model supplies £40) rather than use it to operate a servo use it to operate a relay on the low tension side of the coil or kill switch system. just an idea.

what kind of distance will he be from you?

If he has his way bloody miles. I'm sure he dose it to make me run, and to be honest if god had wanted me to run he wouldn’t have invented bikes.

In all honesty say a 100 meters.

Will try the cheep toy thing if it works will let you know, if it don’t, well back to the drawing board.

Tried the bungee but was told off by his mum for introducing him to another dangerous sport, but hay, what are grandads for.
