Hello folks,

Allegedly I am a newbie tosser........but I do have a query which would appreciate some guidance on.

R1150GS 2001 - both mirror stems (black epoxy) are corroding from underneath the epoxy.
How are the actual mirrors removed from the stems?
I can then get the stems re-coated

Welcome to the site :thumb I wasn't aware they were detachable... I know you can't replace the stem without the mirror itself....

You should be able to pick up a pair complete on here for a reasonable amount ;)

I've left mine all rusty so it looks more like a real adventure bike.... ;)

Mask up the mirror, wire wool them back to the bare metal, then one coat of primer and as many coats of black plasticote paint as you feel is necessary, did it last year and didn't have to remove the mirrors from the stems.
Paint is less than a fiver from Wilkinsons:thumb2

Edit: as M'Dabber did.

Thanks guys - I did eventually find out that the mirrors weren't detachable.
Currently prepping and painting them back to good health!

Appreciate your response
