As the title says, Herself wants me to remove the backrest from the Vario topbox on my 1200GS. I've had a quick look, but can't see an easy way to remove it. Has anybody removed theirs??

If so, how did you do it?? I obviously don't want to ruin the rest or the box. If no-one has, then I may have to post a "How to" later on.

Ta in advance

I added a back rest to mine so I suggest that the reverse instructions will work?

Turn the box upside down. The long pad should be held on by two self-tapping screws that attach to the lugs on the outer casing. If memory serves, the oblong pad is attached throug the casing so will leave two small holes (which could easily be filled).
