So want to take off the handlebars for a quick respray. Happy with taking off the levers/master cylinders etc. However, can I remove the grips without shagging the heated grips? I can see that the handlebars have a seperate outer section held to the main bars with a small nut. I have tried removing this and although there is a bit of rotation I can't slide it off. I have read that there is a small rubber bushing in there to prevent vibration, will easing (forcing!) it off damage it?

Looks like the wires for the left hand grip were held on by will power alone. So some soldering in my near future.
