I have the triple black, came with touring package. I have the side panniers, which i want to keep, it also has a luggage rack and adaptor for a top box, which I don't intend to purchase. I'd like to keep the side pannier mounts but remove the rear rack. Anyone done this? Haven't been able to find a tutorial. Mine has radar in the tail in case that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance.

Looks like I got the same bike. Also looking to take off the top rack.
I haven’t bought the side cases yet but was wondering if you can fit a helmet anyway into the right BMW case?

I haven't tried and don't have them with me right now, but would say almost definitely no. On removing the top rack, adding the innovation package (radar) on the BMW configurator forces you to add the luggage rack, I wonder if it's integrated.

I was hoping there might be a way. I think I might try the Wunderlich cases or I’ll have to go with the oem and top box. We go on a lot of day trips and don’t want to leave the helmets out even if we lock them.
I was planning on trying to take the rack off but saw your post about the radar so was hoping for someone to post instructions.

So I pulled the rear end apart, not that hard to get the rear rack off, but with the rear radar tail there is a gap between the seat and the tail that would need filling with something. If you want to take it off to check for yourself, four bolts on each side, two on side of side panier mounts, 1 under neath each side panier mount, then when you take the side panier mounts off, one more on each side of the rack itself. Remove cover underneath so you can disconnect wires to the topbox central lock, cut three cable ties, super easy. I applied loctite when putting it back together.

But yeah nah, can't take it off without something to fill the gap.

There is a plastic trim that fills the gap 46 63 7 106 015 clips 52 10 5 a09 840 small grab rail 46 72 5 a75 d68
I stripped my rack off and pannier rails and fitted the above parts . Check out video by moto papa which is good showing removal and part numbers . It cost me under £200 for parts but but sure it was only about £50 for plastic trim and clips .

Do you have the side panniers? I'm guessing you need spacers once you remove the rack

Do you have a link please, couldn't find the video.

It's a GS, but I'm guessing it's the same parts. He doesn't keep the side case mounts but it looks like it should work.
