I've removed the tank cover off the GSA along with the beak for painting. When I removed the tank cover I also removed the filler cap, but I'm not sure if I needed to.
When I come to refit do o leave the filler cap bolted to the tank and the cover simply goes over it ?

Yes, leave filler cap connected to the tank, the tank cover clips off and on around the cap.

I found a video on YouTube which shows how to remove all the panels and the refit. how they refit the fuel tank cover looks a bit daunting, they line the hole up over the fuel filler cap and then give it a few smacks with the palm of his hand to locate the tabs. Is this the correct way to do it ? Seeing as I'm having the panels painted I don't fancy smacking a freshly painted panel a few times !
