Removing screen completely

Hello everyone, I recently purchased an '07 1200GS. From day one I haven't had much success with the screen. It's been a pain in the neck, and I mean that literally.

Last weekend I borrowed an R1200R and the total lack of a windscreen offered my burning neck much needed relief. Somehow it was more enjoyable than my GS. So I started thinking that maybe I should just remove my screen altogether. I've read about the winglets, Givi screens, lips, and plenty of other suggestions, but I was just wondering if anyone has had success without a screen at all?
Thanks, Brian

Hi Brian

I ride an 1150gs and have chopped the screen in half, makes it a much better bike to ride (did try tobbies, mra, ZTechnik, Adventure screens all to no avail)

it would be nice to see a chopped screen..

I've had my 1150 just over a year now, 23K kms with no screen, after years of bikes that don't have screens (old bikes!) I find the deflector bit above the clocks is enough for me, I really do like having no screen, I also like the view down the road, I've never liked looking over or through a sreen.
The original ADV screen was removed after about an hour when I found it directed the wind straight at my eye level. I was going to try another screen or cut the ADV screen down but I've found no screen suits me.
It will depend how tall you are, I have a low seat & I'm 5.10, I can keep my head steady sat upright at any speed, even flat out, but if I add an airhawk, which can only be an inch higher, if that, I then have to hunch over a bit else I catch a lot of turbulence, no good on a long run, with the standard seat fitted I'd need a screen.
OK, your 1200 is different to my 1150 but after reading lots about screens/no screen it seems it really is a very personal thing, with so many variables its virtually impossible to advise, just keep experimenting till you find something that suits you.
