remus

Hi Alan ,welcome to the site.I have a remus on my bike too. I told the insurance company that I had an after market can fitted which gave 4-5 BHP improvement. They altered my premium by a couple of quid,I think its a case of better safe than sorry.
Where abouts in the north east are you? once the weather picks up do you fancy a ride out with some of the local GSers?
Cheers Dave

Exahaust mods....

Technically you are obliged to inform the Insurance company of ANY alterations or modifications to the insured article (in this case its a bike). Failure to do so could invalidate your policy....not good.

By using your GS on the road with the baffle removed you will certainly attract Mr Plod (if he/she is awake or around and not sat in the station filling in paperwork...if asleep they certainly won't be when you go pass) and you are indeed illegal.

Have you had anything else done for the exhaust mod i.e. fuelling altered to suit the weaker running that these things invariably induce?

Manufacturers warranty may be affected. Have tou got the original silencer and cat/con. as you may find the exhaust mods affect resale value, people like to buy bike that aren't buggered about with.

Having said all that....enjoy the exhaust note and the backfires (if you get them) when you spot Plod keep the bike in a high gear and use the BMW presence to waffle on by.
