Whilst in the Isle of Man (in fact on the day before we were due to come home :( ), the bracket holding my Remus can on decided to break. Luckily we were able to get a bit of wire to temporarily hold it on until we got home :thumb2 .

On arriving home the bolts that held the brackets on were liberally squirted with WD40 type stuff and thereafter every day for a week as they didn't look too healthy. Come the weekend and removal time, the first bolt sheared off :( and the second sounded like it was coming undone with that cracking sound but it was the captive nut on the inside that came loose :( . So off to the welders hoping to have the bracket welded to can, couldn't be done stainless to titanium :( , but they did weld the bracket back together.

Got the exhaust and bracket back today (they're still sort off together as the bolt through the bracket to (not so) captive nut is keeping them loosely together) and tightened the two together with some jubilee clips. Whilst doing this, I noticed that where the exhaust pipe goes into the silencer is starting to fracture :( .

Sorry for taking so long, but the question is should I get a replacement Remus exhaust (considering how (not so) long this one has lasted - 6 years max that I can work out, or maybe get an Akrapovic - the idea of a clamp seems good (what are peoples experiences of these) or go to Gazelles and have a stainless one made up (the one on my 'Old Wing ('76) was still good after 10 years when I moved her along).

The collective thoughts of UKGS'ers would (possibly) be appreciated :D

Bos in one. Much better centre stand bump stop on the 1150 and it's got a rubber bushed mount for the can as well. Hadone on my 1150 (that went to Spanner Rash) and now got one on the 1200 GSA :)

Which ever "Y" piece you decide to fit, make sure you slacken ALL the clamps,(for the balance pipe and the cylinder head retaining bolts for the pipes), before you fit the "Y" piece. Bolt the "Y" piece in place first using the 2 c/sunk head screws using Coppaslip on them. Then offer the front pipes to the "Y" piece and tighten up. Next, bolt up the balance pipe clamp, then fit the can. :thumb

Thanks John, Never heard of Bos in one, but I'll do a search. Not bothered much about centre and side stands :D

Already have the "y" piece fitted, and lowered so that a "normal" pannier can be used (albeit with a city lid as there is no room the usual lid - gain one side, lose the other!)

whichever can you get if you want it to last then get one with an ali skin as titainium will heat/vibration fracture as will poor carbon sleeves all exotic materials have a finite life as you have found plus get a can that can be stripped and repacked every now and then  :beerjug: :Motomartin
