Went to re-new to front and rear pads. In theory a simple enough task, but I can't get the retaining pin out of either front or rear calipers to free the pads. The R clip comes out ok, but the front pin seems to be seized, and although the rear pin spins freely in place it don't wants to move out.

I'm assuming that once the R clip was removed the pin, in theory, it should slide out from the caliper without too much effort.

Before I start getting heavy on it's ass....Am I missing something obvious?????

I just tap them out with a punch. First time it did need a bit of WD and a reasonable amount of force.

Just be careful if its a knockout pin. There will be a small hole in the middle of a raised area. Use a pin punch in the hole not a drift on the raised bit.

All sorted.....and a little WD, then a good hard tap with a hammer and drift, they popped out fine. Tidied them up with a wire brush and re-fitted with some copper grease.

One less job to worry about. Thanks for input. Just wanted not tofall foul of some weird BMW/Bemco procedure. In the end pretty standard, just not been done for some time.

Cheers

The pins have a little spring clip on the business end. At least they don't rattle and fret the caliper body.
