My nice Daytona goretex boots are starting to look in need of a little T.L.C. The velcro is almost off both boots and one of the heels has worn through. Where can I send them to get these problems fixed and what are the costs likely to be?

Mike,

it won't be cheap and quick if you send them back to Daytona (although the result will be like getting a new pair of boots). One of mine started leaking after 3 1/2yrs and a lot of miles. I took them back to the dealer I got them from and they went off to Germany and had new Goretex and new soles fitted - the bill came to £80ish (this was 2 yrs or so ago). They were away 5-6 weeks.

I'm going to collect my other pair from my dealer today - I broke one of the zips - they've been away 4 weeks and have had the zip, velcro and the gearchange pad replaced - £57.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the cost is shipping to and from Germany - for just replacing velcro I'd be tempted to find a local cobbler and ask if he can do it, but the sole/heel will mean a longish trip to Germany ...

Mike:)

You return them through your nearest dealer, who send them back to Germany. Cost to refurbish the whole boot (new sole, repair leather etc.) was £95 when I asked:eek: I was also told that the new UK distributer was considering increasing this as it was a non profit activity

Louis.de sell replacements for mine (Roadstar GTX) for £135 but I have seen them on sale there as low as £113.
