Had a SP III for some time now, very happy with it, could be faster and memory cards are an issue, but no other major complaints

However guy on Ebay is selling reconditioned 2620 for £129 with 1 year guarantee

Question is. is it worth upgrading, will I notice a significant difference

Yes, what Steve said.

Several people on here have bought 2620 and have rapidly swapped them for something else. It's a shame but the 2620 just doesn't work on bikes.

I have just bought one off the bloke on E-Bay(last week), why doesn't it work on a bike?

B*ll*cks...let's hope the anti vibration touratech mount does what it is supposed to otherwise I have just wasted a shed load of money and so has mate who has done the same thing.

Going out for a ride tomorrow so I will try it and see, not that I need a sat nav tomorrow but will road test it, fingers crossed.

Some 2620s had a removable hard drive - if yours is one of them apparently it is easy to swop it out for the same 2gb flash drive that is used in the 2610.
You can download a manual from the Garmin website if you don't have one.

Well been out today, done 200 miles bouncing and banging along Staffordshire, Shropshire and Wales best 'B' roads and 'A' roads and the Garmin 2620 works perfectly. Checked with BMW dealer and the latest BMW MOTORRARD nav system which is a garmin) also has an internal memory so I don't see there will be problem.

At £120.00 its a bargain, I paid £220.00 10 days ago for the unit, V9 upgrade and bike mount kit all included.

Been talking to the guy, seems to know his stuff as he overhauls and resells them for a living

Not had a single one returned and sold several to bikers.

They all come with a full refund, no quibble 1 year guarantee, so if its does bounce around, can return it straight away

Might be time to sell the SP and Touratech mount and get this one

Grab yourself a bargain, couldn't believe it when I saw it 10 days after I bought mine for £100.00 less:blast, oh well sold the Streetpilot 111 for £120.00 today on E-Bay so that offset the cost:thumb2

Bugger it, guy relisted and had the option of making an offer, got one for £110 all in. Couldn't not get it for that price

So now I have an SP III, with all the gubbins, and a Touratech Mount for sale

They've all got an 'internal memory.' The point is, the 2620's is a hard drive, and not suitable for motorcycle use. All the rest have solid state memories, and are suitable. There are old threads on this subject, & Pan European has advised against using the 2620 on a bike.

Having said that, at the price you guys have paid it's got to be worth a punt. Just let us know how you get on, but don't be disappointed if it doesn't work out.

True, but for a £100, when they are £500+ new you are not really loosing out that much, plus its got a full refund and return policy

The few people who seem to have bought them on here are not reporting any problems either

The 2610 is for sale on ebay for USD 199 + shipping from several sellers

The units are refurbished with 1 year guarantee from Garmin. Each one I've seen is "as new".Only downside is the maps are North America but are current Version 8.
