hi has anyone changed there cdi/ecu ect on there 10-12 gs. Had a fire on mine and think the electronics need replaced. Been told that the clocks will need changed too but cant find any more info

As far as I know, only a dealer can match the stuff back to work together... And test it works...

Fire ?

heard that one before ;) ;)

Its plug and plug. getting it to play will be a shed load harder.

The ecu, will have hard coded data into it, this data is sent to each of the other units on the (Can)bus

if the Ecu data matches, each ecu will look and act on the data it's set to recieve.

your going to need to ISTA or similar to recode and get everything talking

Unfortunately I can't work out how to put up pics of the damaged loom and scorched parts. If I have to take it to a dealer its not a issue just need to be able to fix it and find the parts needed

Yes but they want to right it off. Where as the cost of parts are a lot less painful. Replacement loom and electronics come to less than £500

Would be nice to see the photos.
Without seeing them and the fact that the loom has burnt I would suspect that one of the unprotected feeds to the ZFE, BMSK, Kombi,Starter relay or solenoid have shorted to ground. These are all thick red wires and do not have any circuit protection.
I would be tempted to repair the loom if only temporary just to test the ecu`s. you could fit fuses to those feeds as a temporary measure whilst testing.
with any luck the ECU`s will be ok and you will only need to replace the loom.
This is the optimists view. :)

GS911 are talking about supporting ecu changes....

its all doable but what tools and how is a closely guarded secret... there are BMW car coding tools that are easily available out there, that allow you to edit the hidden info. in fact the same engine ECU is used on some of the cars.... but when you go searching the car ones don't list the bike files in the drop down menus to pick
