Replacing levers

I've bought a set of folding levers, but it looks like I have to take the proddy bit (that goes into the cylinder) off the originals. Except they don't seem to want to come off. They're held in place with a couple of small hex grub screws, I think, but they won't unfasten.

Has anyone done this to their WC?
