Had a root through the forum and found a few tips, but just wondering....
is there an idiots guide to replacing rear brake pads?

Have never done this before, but a visual inspection revealed "completely worn out" so bought some pads this morning.

The handy riders manual instructions for replacing pads are "go to your BMW approved service centre", which is rather dull.

Is it an easy job for a mechanical incompetent desk jockey such as myself to do in my lunchbreak?

thanks in advance for helpful responses......

ps bike is ABS & servo equipped.

In 'Technical' there is a 1200GS FAQ section. There is a comprehensive guide to changing the pads by Mouse. I followed it OK and dont know one end of a spanner from the other!

The first time I did this job I didn't realise that the pin on which the pads float had a spring loaded retainer, so wasn't sure how to tap it through the caliper (how hard should I hit this?). Now I know this, it's a five minute job.

Pad Replacement warning

Push the pads back very slowly by hand or you risk blowing the abs pump or servo not certain which as your bike is ABS and Servo.
Easy job but be careful
