resetting an SP3

did a search, found instructions:
"Master reset, Press and hold QUIT+ROUTE+UP, then press and release POWER, then release UP, wait 15 seconds and unit will power up."

problem is, I cant seem to get it to work. Managed it once, but not since! Is there a knack, or something else I should be doing? Do I need to be in a particular screen or something?

According to my manual page 42 "to restore the original settings"

1 Use the Rocker Keypad to move the cursor to the file tab for which you want to restore the original settings.

2 Press the Menu key. A window is displayed with "Restore Original Settings"

3 Press Enter. Only the settings for that file are modified.

4 If desired, repeat steps 1 through 3 for other file tabs.

Before all that there is a mention of System Set up option wehere you enter the GPS mode (on or off), Units (miles or Kms.) Voice (Guidance only, ,,,)Attenttion tone (on or off) and keep press (on or off)

Help.
Had a problem with the unit reset the streetpilot iii.. When I load the maps onto the data card and turn the unit on it shows all map areas on loading up.

Says looking for satellites and then ready to navigate, but no map detail....

Any ideas??
