Hi,
I have an old and battered Time laptop (remember them?) A few months ago it crashed and I was advised by the IT bloke at work to reinstall everything using the original CD's that came with the computer. That worked in that I now have a desktop, I can access the internet etc but I don't appear to have word or Excel. As far as I can tell I run XP.
Is there any (semi) legal way in which I can obtain the Office programmes again? Is there a website from which I can download them or are they hidden or something?
Please forgive the ignorance, this is beyond my level of knowledge!

Cheers in advance.

Unless you have the original cd's, or the serial numbers that can be verified, no there's not.

Have you checked the restore CD thoroughly to make sure it's not on there???

If you want to stay legal, there are some prety good free versions ofoffice software that are compatible with Word etc (IE they will open up your old word docs) and these are available as freeware (ie free ) or shareware (you pay a donation) on t'internet.

If (like most of us) you're slightly more dodgy and take the stance that you've genuinely paid for it at some point so you ought to have a copy, even if it's not the one you paid for, it's very very easy to get pretty much any version of MS Office online........We obviously can't condone piracy by telling you exactly where but you mike like to Google 'Bittorrent' and take it from there ;)
