Retro-fit trip computer

Hello chaps,
I wonder if any of you clever lot know if its possible / easy to retro-fit the OE trip computer to a 1200GS which was originally specced without one. In these modern, plug & play multiplex times I sort of imagine it may just be a case of plugging a module into a pre-existing slot in the loom, but maybe that's over hopeful? Would the lh switch block need to change too, and the display screen? If it is viable, anyone done it & able to put a price on the bits?

I may be wrong......but I'm pretty certain the computer can only be fitted when spec'd from the factory.

I'd guess it's physically possible but you'd need to reprogram the system to recognise it and the cost of the bits is bound to be ridiculous. If you need that kind of gizmo I'd look at aftermarket products which probably have more bells and whistles
