I think the GS is all the bike you need but at the end of the day it's your call, go with your gut feeling. And as the saying goes, "if it feels good, do it":comfort

hi morticia, ive ridden all the gs range but not back to back, i do like the 12 ad but im wondering if it would be tha much hard work off road than the standard 1200 not that i do alot off roading but once i get this bike i wont be changing again for a long time lol

Hi Silverfox, The idea of back to back test rides were suggested to me...it helped me decide. Must admit, i would not take my baby off road, its purely for selfish enjoyment and my 40 mile each way ride to the office.

As you are in South Wales, can you get a day at the off road school, try all their bikes out on and off road and see that way?...just a thought.

Have fun finding the bike for you, and dont forget the pics when get her.

Morticia:)

hello again morticia, yep i did a weekend off-road skills course with bmw down at abercrave then went back do the follow up ride on the beacons for the day,its well worth it i havent had many better biking days out than those down in abercrave including trips in europe.and of course ill send pics when i get her!

Try them both!

Ive just traded a 05 1200GS for a late 07 GSA. Cuffed with it so far and already taken it on a 500mile straight run upto scotland got to love the big tank! Not so sure on the ally boxes though they leak! My Varios's were water tight above high water mark and didnt need cleaning! All small stuff really as she's a great ride!:thumb I never had any problems with the 1200GS!

There are quite a few threads on this subject in the 1200 section, grab a coffee, sit down for a couple of hours to read them, and I guarantee you'll not be any closer to a decision. To me, the only decider, is whether you want a big tank or not, everything else is just dressing for most people. If you like to stop for regular breaks then you'll be fine with the standard tank, if on the other hand you like to ride on and on, then the big boy would be better. Maybe. Perhaps.
