Hello german helmet squad, my Keihan decat headers came today.........thanks Chris (sargent bilko) very trusting guy saved me a set and let me pay by cheque all on word and trust (something hard to come by nowdays!). The pipes are really good quality ,excellent flowing welds, good square cut flanges and nice shiney finish.
Fitting is easy enough....unbolt back box, remove sump guard, unplug lamda sensors and swap into new pipes, fit on to bike and refit everything back took 30 min no problemo.
At this point i removed the battery terminal for a minute before start up , reason being that if you fit any performance changing parts it lets the ecm power down and it can start to learn the new values and adaptive driveability program for the new pipes.
Start up and idle it doesnt sound much different, blip the throttle and i would say its a slightly deeper tone and responds quicker.
On the road a definate improvement is felt the engine is more eager to rev and the annoying "economy hole" at the 4500 to 5500rpm is gone (this was the main reason i fitted the pipes) the mid range power is much more usable and the bike revs out alot faster.
Let me say turn the "big brother" traction off and 3rd gear stompin wheelies make you smile(!!what wheelies from the sensible r1200 what ever!!).
All in all a good mod, 30 min fitting time by any who can manage a spanner with fair confidence.
Thanks again to Sargent Bilko and Keihan header pipes, dont think about it just get em bought
ps. you can pay me my commission with a cheque Chris(bilko)
