Been to the London Motorcycle Show at Excel today and was quite taken with a range of clothing by Rev'it of Holland.

This jacket in particular http://www.rev-it.co.uk/item3572.htm

Just wondering if anyone here has any experience of their products and if so what are your opinions?

Steve

Good looking range but not "adventure" quality. I have a pair of "Cargo" trousers that leak like a seive in the crotch and the bottom flaps are not heat proof. Mine melted the first time I got off the bike and they touched the exhaust.
Dealer said "tough, shouldn't go near hot metal". Which I thought was a bit shit considering they are designed for motorcycle wear!

I stick with HG stuff and don't seem to have any problems no matter what the weather conditions.

Is that "leaks in" or "leaks out" ? :nenau

As far as I know - most bike gear sticks to a hot exhaust. I know that BMW jackets do :o

Rev'it get a pretty good name in leathers production though :thumb2

I got the Off Track jacket with the Dakar trousers to use on Enduro Africa last Oct/Nov, took them with me but didn't get around to using them.

They both have separately removable thermal and waterproof liners and each liner can be used separately or in combination. The jacket also has removable side panels. The quality seems to be pretty good, about HG standards IMO and not to BMW standards, but then they are HG prices and a lot cheaper than BMW.

I'll be sticking to my BMW kit in winter and keep the Rev'it stuff for summer, and Enduro Himalay in August.

The new Cayenne Jacket was at the NEC and I'll be buying it to replace my now (too baggy :o) Twat Suit. Top quality gear at the top of their range, VFM further down :thumb

I also saw the Revit gear at the ExCel bike show -thought it looked pretty good, good prices too. Sales guy said 1 year guarantee, and if any problems after that they would deal with them , plus spare bits replacements. He seemed very keen to "infiltrate" the GS type market.
The Armour inserts looked pretty good too-impressive reaction to hard hits-it kind of goes all solid, but is pretty soft and maleable on gentle movements .

Lots of pockets, air vents, liners etc-I looked at the Radar range (I think it was) cost about £199...so might be my next choice of jacket.

Good show too I thought -even managed to see Charlie & Ewan 1200's -complete with multitude of T T bits, & real African muck ( probably sprayed on for the show !!)

I've got one of their air-jackets, and it comes with Knox armour (shoulders and elbows). Not at all waterproof - but not supposed to be.

SWMBO has jacket and trousers, with removable waterproof liner and thermal removable liners. Kept her dry through a couple of (very wet) swiss trips. Couple of year old (not too much use) but still seems in good nick.

I'd certainly consider it.

Cheers

I got the offtrack jacket and dakar pants at the NEC show last Nov. My impression so far has been very good. Have been out in freezing temperatures with just a dryflo tee under the jacket, and not cold at all (trust me, I feel the cold).
Have had it out in the rain - didnt leak. But wasnt serious downpour type rain.
It has cargo pockets on the pants which are very handy. Some of the pockets are marked "waterproof". The others look like they would be waterproof too - but havent tested them yet properly.

We'll see if it stands the test of time, but my opinion so far is that its very good quality gear, looks great, and a good bit cheaper than a twat suit. :thumb2

I have their Dakar pants and really like them, despite them getting a bit wet around the crotch on a very, very wet run last Saturday. Will phone the dealer to see if they can sort out the waterproof liner.

I like the vents and the cargo pockets and find they fit really well. Will just take a pair of waterproof overtrousers with me for heavy downpours, until the liner gets sorted.

Good kit ...

... used a Rev'it jacket for three years before selling it for a longer model. Good kit, and although not billed as waterproof it seemed to be. Removeable thermal liner and excellent build quality.

excellent kit

Had a Cayenne for a while now. Have ridden it through every kind of weather. No probs at all. The venting is awesome in summer. The outer jacket itself does get quite soaked in really heavy rain for prolonged periods. I've never gotten wet inside the jacket myself but it does get pretty heavy.

Only small issue I have is the arms are probably just a bit short. I have issues with all long sleeve stuff so can't really fault the jacket, just warning you if you are long armed!

The Cayenne is extremely well made and shows absolutely no marks from my recent (low speed admittedly) off.. The armour was perfect and right where it was required.

I have both trousers and jacket, I have had no problems with them leaking in heavy rain. They have removable thermal linings and the vents are great. It hasn't show any sign of damage where I had a wee slide down the road in them either... :augie

My partner has a set also which have removable waterproof and thermal linings. These have held up brilliantly to heavy rain. The only problem there has being with them in the little strap that holds the linings in snaping and the lining in the trouser pocket coming away from not being stitched in properly. :spitfire

I would recommend them. :thumb2

Also a Rev-it convert, have the Lab jacket bought a year ago, also the 3 layer system which is warm when needed and excellent in the summer with all the venting.

Have the courdora trousers that zip together and their leathers for the summer again that zips to jacket. They are the only ones that make a leather with decent leg length that at least stay inside the boots when sat on the bike:clap

Wow!!!
Impressive recommendations there.
Really appreciate all your replies.
The jacket I looked at felt, and looked like, reasonable quality, didn't make a purchase but I think I probably will do now.
Thanks again :thumb

I:doh tried the jacket at the NEC and have found somewhere local that sells it, just need some money first. :doh

Too true they are after the GS market... the colours all match the GS range, inc HP2 blue and theres Katoom Orange to boot!

There are three lengths of trousers which might help with armour placement.
