Are you a biker, or triker?
Fancy an adventure to Russia in June 2011?
On the 1st June 2011 an intrepid band of bikers, and trikers, will embark on a 2000 mile trip to Moscow to raise funds for the Genesis project
At 16 years old young people in Russia have to leave their orphanages and official figures show that only 9% manage to integrate into normal society successfully. In September 2000 Love Russia, a charity based on the Isle of Wight, launched a program called Genesis for eight orphanage leavers which helped to cover the cost of their basic needs while they attended college. Since then more than 600 orphanage leavers and young people from needy families have taken part in the program. 96% have successfully integrated in normal society, achieving a high standard of education and getting better jobs as a direct result of the support they have received. In 2009/10 83 students have been helped but the number of places that can be supported through existing giving has declined because of the economic crisis. Meanwhile the number of young people that need support continues to rise.
