I see that it has a section on "easiest for maintenance" section.

The 1150GS comes out in 14th place, obviously never logged into this place then. LOL

How can a Jap four be easier to maintain, than a Boxer? :nenau

Are they talking about DIY?

My 1150 is the easiest and cheapest bike to run that I've owned (doing my own maintenance).

Jap clutch took me literally 5 minutes to replace. How long on a GS?

Seems like the day to day jobs are easier (Plugs etc) but the big jobs are harder. Swings and roundabouts come to mind.

I see what you mean... but I service my GS a lot more than I replace the clutch, plus tyres and other consumables work out a lot cheaper than the Japanese bikes I've owned..

I've only done 53,000 miles so hopefully the clutch still has a way to go..:D

Mines on 66000 miles and to tell you the truth I am preparing myself ready for a big bill in the not too distant future. Hope I am wrong:)
