Decided to have Fiday off and make the most of the beautiful sunny weather we are having so a message was posted in the 'pub' to see if anybody fancied meeting up and a random route plotted on the Quest to get me from Nottingham to the Cat and Fiddle (the highest pub in England?) in the Peak National Park.
I'm really starting to appreciate these little Sat Nav things, the random route plotted taking me down some great tracks and lanes that in years of riding around Derbyshire I have never discovered
The ride up was perfect and I arrived at the Cat and Fiddle just ahead of Vicount Derbyshire (Jamie). How great it was to hear another London accent
Sat and chatted and then we rode on towards Castleton/Hope where I was to meet Sherpa (John), Jamie turned off to home and I made my way to the Woodbine cafe in Hope.
John and his mate Ron soon turned up and after a coffee and a cocconut slice we were off with Ron leading a guded tour of the local lanes and by-ways.
What can I say..............it was one of those rides that really make you glad to be alive and riding a bike. I don't have much of a clue where we went but we barely hit a main road nor saw any other traffic, this really was perfect GS coutry and to have somebody like John who knows his way around so well as was a real treat
Any way, here (mainly for Liv's benefit) are a few pickies of Derbyshire/S Yorks in blazing June heat.
It was great to put some faces to, and meet some peeps on the list and thanks again John for such a brilliant ride out
Andres
On the way to the Cat and Fiddle, near Crich (that's near Matlock Liv!)
A rare breed of Derbyshire Llama
Another perfect GS road
Jamie at the Cat and Fiddle in 'works' sponsored outfit
Me in GS/Hein Gericke sponsored outfit
Following Jaime, not a cloud in the sky and, shock horror, some cars...
Dropping down to the Speedwell cavern
Ron and John just before hitting the top of Man Tor
Our last stop, Monsal Dale or there abouts (I think?)
