As is the way with me-sorry for the short notice
I will be meeting up with a couple of mates for a ride tomorrow (potentially an "all day-er" ) we will be meeting at Abergavenny Bus Station Cafe for 10.30 AM and moving off shortly after and heading North> Gilwern,Lower Chapel,Garth,Abergwesyn,Tregaron,Devil's Bridge, heading towards Machynlleth and South via Llyn Clywedog and follow the B4518 to Rhayader and Builth and then take the faster or more scenic route South depending on the time of day.
All are welcome, the pace is likely to be fairly brisk-depending on numbers........;)

Peacock.
Sorry to miss your post, tinternet down for over a week:blast I would of joined ewe. Did you go over Lyn Brianne?? Only asking, I was that way on Saturday to watch a bit of the Cambrian, My brother and Andy Bird roped me into a bit of Marshalling (offer of a free minted burger sold me the idea:thumb) Great day made even more so as I was on super grippy tourances:eek::eek::D:D

Davies

Day started off well enough, myself (1200GSA) Shaun (KTM 950 ADV) Mark (1200GSA) but went downhill a little after a coffee at Llandovery :augie
You know those little country roads?
The sort with a ribbon of tarmac either side and a mixture of mud, leaves and gravel in the middle, like the little lanes around Abergwesyn?
I hate them!
I used to like them-a bit.........
But no more-not unless somebody else is leading anyway!
Had a head on with a car on Sunday :(
No injuries-no real damage either, pride was a little dented though:o
It happened on a blind left hand bend at no more than 10mph,the car driver braked,I braked but still we crashed,my front wheel hit his front bumper on the offside and collapsed it (Renault Megane-plastic deformable bumper) I felt like I was going over the handlebars (an exageration on my part apparently as Shaun on the KTM following me said the incident looked no more dramatic than dropping a bike at a standstill ) I managed to step away as the bike fell to the floor-once these things lean so far there's no stopping them.
We swapped names and address' and both agreed that insurance would likely call it "knock for knock" and trouser the increased premiums from each of us for the next 5 years,we've both agreed to get our vehicles inspected for damage and have a chat on the phone to discuss what happens next.
Apart from superficial scratches to the engine bars and pannier frames I can find no other damage, the handlebars rotated forward in the clamps ever so slightly (now fixed) but that's it I expected to see suspension or steering damage to the bike at the least so I'm taking it to Mike at Cardiff Motorrad for an inspection tomorrow, but it rides great appears to track true and I can detect no buckle to the front wheel.
We'd enjoyed a good ride up until that point I cannot comment yet on how well a 1200 Adventure crashes until I get the full diagnosis from Mike but it appears at the moment that they are not as fragile as some would have you believe.

Sorry to hear about your off:(

im local to Cardiff but dont know where your talking about and have been using the Bristol BMW shop since Cardiff BMW stopped selling bikes and bits.

You will find Mike's details in the Wales section here; http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118777

About 2 threads down from this one actually ;)

Glad you and the bike are okay,:thumb
hopefully the bike won't be bent, if it was you would be able to tell straight away i would of thought. At least Mike will tell you straight and not start to suck his teeth and take deep breaths like a lot of other bike shops would. Good luck on the outcome
Allan:thumb2

Been to see Mike at Cardiff Motorrad and he's pronounced the bike fit and well, although if I wanted to be really fussy and replace engine bars/handguard/mirror,pannier frame and anything else with a minor surface scratch I would be looking at the thick end of a grand plus labour:eek:

Thanks for the concern guys-the dent to my pride is healing well :o
