I've just been on a bike tour through Spain and France, and another guy also had a 2013 GS. He did sit over to the right on his bike, and it was pointed out that I did also, but to a lesser degree. Has anyone else noticed this and is there a reason for it?

Yes I've noticed it a lot over the years. One of my Brothers was/is a righty and I pointed it out to him years back.

What other reason could there be than that's how the rider feels comfortable , despite not being aware of his/her position?

check the angle of the footrests with respect to the centre line of the bike, is it the same on both sides of the bike?
