I have a TT Rider V1 and have used it on and off bike for the last four years with few problems. I have replaced the battery and re-soldered the mains charging socket to the PC board in the unit when it stopped charging from the mains. However it now looks like it needs its second new battery and a map update. It must be nearing the time when things will start to fail on it that I can't fix and I was considering replacing it with a V2.

I am not very keen on the Scala headset and already have the Rider V1 mic and speaker fitted in my helmet. Does anybody know for sure if the Rider V2 will pair with the bluetooth dongle that came with V1.

I have searched the forum and found one mention that V2 would not pair with the V1 dongle but that was on a thread that also claimed difficulty pairing with the autocom dongle.

I would love to hear from anyone who has successfully paired V2 with the V1 dongle...

Hi,

I'm running a V2 paired fine with the V1 dongle. In fact as mine was a warranty replacement for a faulty V1, rather than send me the full monty with the Scala headset, they actually sent me a white box V2 and included an original dongle with it. A little bit of judicious filing of the original car mount means not having to fork out for a V2 one either.

Having said this, like you I have seen posts mentioning problems, so mine may not be the norm....

Thanks for that Stimulator.

I can't see why there should be a problem as the V1 dongle is a pretty standard bluetooth unit. I actually use the sat nav more when coach driving than I do on the bike so getting instructions through an "in ear" bluetooth headset is far preferable to using the car mount with a speaker because of the level of background noise on the coach. So not needing to use the V2 car mount would be an added bonus. (It also convinces you passengers that you are some sort of navigation god when you drive to some obscure location without having a sat nav blaring out turn by turn directions like they hear with other drivers.)

I presume using the modified old car mount the unit still recognises that it is not on a motorcycle and power is still through the charging connector under the flap at the bottom of the unit.
