Billie bought herself a Marauder , nowt fancy , standard bike.
I decided i would check it out , you know , what it needed .
I have to say , havin never really bought parts for anything else certaintly never for a Suzuki , i have to say Parts Prices for Airhead BMWs are Crazy.

Any ways , I fancy a wee Sporty type front muddie thingie ,, you know the one , www/flatracer.co.uk !
I could scarcely believe it ! .... £139 ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,H.F.

So to bring my tale to an end .
Have you one of these , with the Fork brace, sitting idle ? .
What have you successfully managed to cut to shape and make it work and look well ?.
Where can i lay my grubby lill ole hans on somethin ,,,,that will look good and not cost the earth ? .
If you have any cafe racer typee thingie mey bobbins sitting idle ,, i am in the market ?. What have ye?.

Did i mention i have sensitivity issues ? .

That £139 is for the shorty mudguard with the San Jose style fork brace. The shorty mudguard on its own is £30 ish. I've got one and they are very well made and styled.

Rob, how well do the shorty's actually work as a mudguard? Mine is off the bike just now (the big one under the chunky brace on the 86 mono) because its cracked at the back. Im going to cut a bit off it past the break and possibly a little off the front for styling (short back n sides sir?). At the moment, with no guard and the wet, dirty roads up here I am getting *splattered*. Was wondering how much off the back is sensible for it to still work as a mudguard.

I have both in my G/S , and are very pleased with them.
Both are well made, fitted perfectly and the brace made a noticeable difference to my well worn forks, though I did fit a SJBMW Top Triple at the same time. And decent synth fluid.

The mudguard seems to work just as well as the stock one on my R75/7, and protects the electrics better than the stock high G/S guard- the ignition would wash out in heavy rain with the stock guard but not with the Flatracer

I bought mine before Flatracer sold one for the G/S, but still managed to squeeze a 21" 50/50 tire into a space meant for a 19" road tire.

Not much space, but it has never caused any problems , although I don't do mud by choice and what little I have done has caused no problems.

I need one too as my stock mudgard is bust and frankly fuggly ! i wonder if the flat racer will sit under my mono rt brace? I guess for £35 its worth a go

Doesnt look like it will work with the mono RT brace (at least not without mods). They say it's bolt on for bikes up to '84 which would exclude the mono, but will work if you use their tubular brace (£135, ouch!)

The front doesn't appear to be an issue but there is far more dirt and muck thrown up the front of the engine and bottom of the tank. If you want a serious mudguard then this will not suit.

obviously they don't make one for the monos. I've no idea if you could make one fit or not.
