A friend has to get her 2001 650gs restricted. What do they ride like when this is done? I'm told the throttle is limited in it's movement and therefore the responce will be decidedly dull.:nenau

Any one out there riding a restricted 650?

How does it compare to a standard one?

My Son 'Mozzer' has got a 650 Dakar which is restricted and it still goes very well.

The first time i rode it i was disappointed but then i remember reading on a thread on here 'Ride it like you Nicked It' so i did and it is great even though it is restricted. It still goes 85 with me sitting on it.....

According to Dan, my bike was much smoother once restricted....and the only thing affected is the top end speed - but I've still managed over 90 mph :augie How much faster do I need to ride? :nenau

Fastest I've gone on mine was 75 :o - fast enough on the roads around me.
60mph steady at just a bit over 4000rpm

Mine does 90mph quite easily and is very smooth. The restriction just stops the throttle opening fully so shouldn't be a problem unless you use full throttle often.

I would stick a 15 tooth sprocket on it and enjoy it. At 33 bhp top end speed isnt going to be much but with a smaller sprocket you might be able to have more fun accelerating and easier starts for a novice i.e. less stalling.
