Riding etiquette - to nod.....or not??

I will nod or wave to any one on two wheels, and if I see a biker on the road side in time to pull over, I wil see if they are OK or need a hand.

funny that those chaps who wear lots of dayglo and ride white bikes with blue lights dont wave back very often:D

Indeed! And the Icecream chaps with the white bikes never ever have any icecream(1)! :(

(1) That's what the freezer boxes at the back is for; icecream, innit..?! They got the loud signal too...

;)

Bikergary... Did you do the Fred Hill Run...? I was on the Blue 1200...

Yep, that was me, I was supprised not to see any other GS's, I had a look around your, nice and dirty I see :-)

.. funny that, I usually get a wave out of them, and not only from behind ;)

The word you're looking for is "used as intended", not dirty :) ;) She did get a well deserved wash on Sunday tho, just that washing her means I need to put more of that AFC gunk on her... :)
Must say that your bike is in very nice nick! Well kept!

Wonder where the other GS'ers were..?

Was a good rideout! :beerjug:

Saying that Joker, did you see those escorting us up the A34, they looked like they were enjoying themselves, way too much.
I'm sure i would have been booked for doing some of those manouvers that they were pulling off, especially the over taking on the outside of the outside lane.......... :D

Indeed, I was asking my girlfriend if they would agree to me following them...
They weren't much, arhmm... more sedate, in town either.

And one of them had a pig with a copper-hat stuck on the top-box. :D   :D

Top lads! Even if they had run out of icecream.

I nod at all, with the exception of scooterists and hog riders. Scooterists, simply because I hate them, hog riders because they're miserable bastards who never nod back, so I've got better things to do with my energy.

One thing I have noticed is that crusty old bearded gits on knackered old bmw's don't seem to want to talk when stopped at traffic lights. Probably too busy re-lighting their pipes or something.

Hi Grandtrousers,

I thought you only did that when a camera's pointing towards you!!!

As for me I always wave. Even the lads on mopeds and small scooters wave. I find it's only the riders of new hogs and old scooters that can't be arsed!

i went out at the weekend, a few bikes out, i nodded at them all but no one nodded back. i was always aknowledged when i had me jap bikes. maybe they just look at the adventure and think what an ugly bike, im not waving at that! i love the looks

I'm off the GS and back on a VFR I'm afraid, but when I had the GS very few Jap bikers nodded. The very first nod I got on the GS was from .. a copper! The ones who never nodded were the chip shop brigade anyhows.

I'm a nodder, even to lowly scooterists. After all, it's where I started off, all those years ago.
It's even where I re-started from recently.

Anyway, nodding is trivial compared to the recognition requirements for camper-van drivers. This ceremony requires that as many occupants as can be found, present themselves to the fore, grin as if deranged and wave as lunatics.

To the chagrin of SWMBO, I have to look away; unless abroad.
