Well had a cracking day yesterday had my lights fitted by mr. Big trailbikerider and what a neat job done.

Background to this :
Prior to this day I had 7 12hr night shifts , 3 of these i was called into work so usual story only sleep for about 5 hours in the daytime so at the weeks end i was knackered.
Got up early friday afternoon after 4 hours sleep , come the friday night had a few beers and went to bed about midnight, unfortunatly my youngest ( 18months )has a chest infection and as such ended up in our bed, width ways , any way by 4am I gave up and got up, watched telly and slurpped coffee , bout 5 v strong cups before leaving for reditch at 07:30.

Stopped at the servises for another 2 cups of coffee on the way up.

Great day , lights fitted , looks good and working a treat,But started having the shakes whilst riding home ,too much coffee at BTBR's house on top of the previous lot , then as I hit the boarder into Wales something weired went on, riding along at bout 85 / 90 got fixated with a number plate of the car in the outside lane , I just would'nt take my eyes off the bloody thing,I got closer and closer till I was about a meter away from his arse end and was gaining on him , Bloody ell, lucky for me he pulled over sharpish beeped his knackers off and I came out of it.
Was I asleep, dont know.
anyway visor up , then pulled in the servises further on.
Think I was coming down off a coffee high.( over 11 cups before 13:00hrs.)

So take care folks, thought id share it with you.

I've also had that "fixation" type of thing, but not as bad as you decribe. I used to go out for a ride after a night on call (called on call but in reality a shift working in the hospital) which followed a normal day shift. 24 hours at work but thought I felt OK & could handle it, but I occasionally found something similar what you describe happening.

I didn't realise how my judgement was impaired until it was too late AFTER running into the back of a stationary Merc - I thought it was just slowing down not actually stopped. Fortunately I had almost managed to stop so not much more than cosmetic damage to bike or car & I didn't look any worse than normal :D

I now never ride if I'm tired, never mind what damage you might do to yourself, if you cause an accident you might just find yourself in the same boat as the guy who caused the Selby train crash - doing poridge

Ade
